Hi folks
I'm new to your forum but was recommnded by Jim at Awesome to take a look.
I previously owned the first APR Stage 3+ MK4 Golf done by Awesome which had a massive spec.
I've been using GTI's for years and was about when Tim Stiles Brian Rickett's to name but a few were about and had a famous little white 2 litre MK2 16 valve 3 door boasting 200bhp with 'everything' done which I regularly tracked against Bill Brockbank and Grant Woodhatch at the regular trackdays at Combe. :jumpmove:
I ran the MKIV at a few trackdays but was always aware of the issues surrounding B/T cars and reliabilty issues.
I have just bought a black 3 door manual Edition 30 having travelled all the way from Somerset to Leeds to get the deal I wanted. Car has Ipod prep centre arm rest and multi function steering wheel.
I've already planned for some mods starting with a re map and a WALK. I still have a stack of Dunlop Inters to use for track.
Brakes will be kept as they are for present although I have an eye on a Tarox kit....may just consider pads and some Motul RB600F for starters.
Will 'try' and keep it as stock as possible as I have been down the full on modded car route before....slippery slope that can be a huge financial drain! A few careful mods dependant on weaknesses I find on track will suffice but the chassis on the MK5 is leagues ahead of the MKIV. :happy2:
