The BBC is publicly funded. They simply can't afford luxuries like F1.

Yup then BBC Sports budget has been slashed hence the loss of various sports.   

All they seem to have now is Athletics and Championship Football, oh and the occasional Rugby match.

Does seem to be the "same" show each week just with different cars, really do like the one off specials though!

The Olympics is the most expensive sporting event to broadcast. The broadcast rights run into many millions.

Another thing to remember is we currently have a very anti-BBC government.
