£200 Budget to upgrade sound quality on MFD2
« on: March 12, 2012, 04:51:10 pm »
Hi,
I've decided to invest £200 to improve on the sound quality of my MFD2. I assume for this level of investment I'm best off going for new speakers? Can anyone suggest replacements that fall within my budget? Thx

honestly, I would upgrade to a RCD310/510 first. If you still don't like it enough.
Install an amplifier in the mix. there after replace speakers.

I found the factory speakers running from an RCD310 with 100wrms up their ass. Sounded fairly ok.
Once I installed my JBL MS-8 into the mix, with the auto tune function.

It was a really good setup.

I agree put the MFD2 on eBay and add the £200 to the proceeds to get the RNS510, for one is had Dolby DTS Audio.

To echo what's been said above. I changed from an RCD300 to and RCD510 and it made such a difference. RCD510's can be had for as little as £150 on eBay  but if you have an MFD2 to get rid off, I'd combine the two funds and hope to source an RNS510. I think this is the ultimate in OEM Mk5 Stereo's and has many many functions. You'd need to do without a stereo for a week or two if you were to sell you MFD2 first though.
