Weren't Jordan pretty small when Schumi started his F1 career with them?

It was 1999, the teams first season in F1. Schumacher qualified 7th though. Can't see a Marussia doing that!

If he keeps his nose clean with no silly mistakes it won't take much for him to be snapped up by a more competitive team. Expectations will be low so at least he has that on his side.

I can only imagine how hard it is to get a seat anywhere but what are the options, be a test driver for a bigger team and hope something happens to the principle drivers (not a nice thought) and you get a shot or start with a lower ranked team and prove yourself good enough for one of the big boys toys?

If the young whippersnapper has the talent (apparently he has) and can compete and beat the other "lesser" teams then he will be noticed. Lets hope he gets given the chance to show his worth, makes Q2 a few times and goes from there.

Yes I agree Nath. If he is clean, keeps out of trouble and shows he can get the maximum from the car then he can only go upwards.

He raised £6.5 million sponsorship for a 2013 drive, from personal donations and Japanese companies. But that pales into insignificance when you compare it to the £45 million Pastor Maldonado brought to Williams. I think even the Marussia drives were costing £5 million.

Me too! She has a good sense of humour and has motorsport presentation experience. Jake will be an enormously hard act to follow though.

I hope that the Beeb keep on Lee McKenzie in the same role as 2012.

And look at Sergio Perez... he got spotted from a low rank team, though last years car was pretty good...

What happened to Paul di Resta, such a good rookie year... last year was a plain year...

I can guess this is why a lot of talented drivers won't get in to F1.

its why chilton is in F1 because his dads stupidly rich. In 3 or 4 years of GP2 he hasnt done anything special. Theres other drivers out there who deserve a seat more than he does
