Beeps
« on: July 02, 2009, 09:43:42 am »
Around 2 weeks ago I started my car as normal, and got 4 quick, short beeps.
Nothing on the highline display.
No error lights etc.
Everything else was normal. The car still started perfectly fine and drove as per normal. So I ignored it.

Ever since then its been fine etc

Yesterday I had the same again when I started the car - but this time I think it was 5 beeps.
Nevertheless everything still starts and works as normal.

Today again, its been perfectly fine - no beeps at all.
Seems to just be random.

Any ideas?

I do have a Parrot Bluetooth - but that makes a completely different noise when connecting to it.

Im not too concerned with the beeps, since everything seems to be working normally. Just wondered what they were!

Is it a warning sound to notify you of a fault/misfire with the alarm system? Is the red LED on the door flashing when you disarm the alarm and open the door?

Just a thought?  :chicken:

Yup, red light on door flashes when alarmed as normal.
I know the alarm is working, as I left my daughter in the car as I went to pay for the fuel the other day, since the car was cool after the air con had been on. I always lock the car when I go to pay for the fuel.
I came back to the alarm going off!
So Im pretty sure the alarm is working.....

Yeh but what Im saying is if the alarm has fired without you knowing and then been left before you return it may beep to tell you it has been set off?

The first time it happened, the car was in my garage overnight, as always. I would have heard the alarm if it had of gone off.

The second time it happened - the 5 beeps - I was in traffic on the M11.
I was stationary for quite a while so I turned the engine off and sat in the car for a while.
I didnt lock the car obviously, as I was still in it!
About 5 mins later, when the traffic started to move I started the car up, and then got the 5 beeps.

No warning lights etc on either occasion. Nothing else to show anything is wrong. And as stated above, both times the car still starts and drives normally.

Did you have anything on the passenger seat, it might have been the seat belt warning but would have thought you would have seen the symbol on the display cluster

im tempted to say its something wrong with the alarm.

does the car beep so many times to tell you the alarm has gone off?

like it the left door has been opened it beeps 3 times
if the tilt sensor has gone off it beeps 4 times.

those arent accurate, just as an example of what the alarm does?

Im 100% sure that its not telling me the alarm has gone off.
As I said above, I turned the car off for 5 mins - didnt even remove the key - and then turned it back on, one day when I was in traffic, and I got 5 beeps.
Its very random, but hasnt happened in the past few days at all.

I think I need that Exorcist.
Will holy water damage my paintwork?
And is it unreasonable to ask the priest to wipe the water off after he's done??

from what i remember you will need to bless the car too and vomit bags are a must

the engine heads might start spinning etc etc so i would let the pro's go for it
