Luckily I still had an almost complete 3 month warranty from the dealership, so it was repaired for free. I forgot to get a receipt for the work carried out and don't know how much this would cost. I'm gonna nip in and get some form of paperwork for my records. I'm just relieved that it was sorted and I'm hoping that it'll be trouble free from now. It's my aim to use it as a 2nd car as I have a trusty old V/Hall Signum diesel to commute in. Although I'm failing miserably at this as I keep taking the Golf.
As for the past metal, we'll I'm sorry to say, my name's sujo and I used to be a Vauxhall addict....
Renault 5GTT, Astra GSi, Calibra turbo, another Astra GSi, Astra coupe turbo.... Sorry guys, no VW's, for reasons unknown!?!
Calibra was by far the quickest thing I've ever owned but it disintegrated and ended up going POP in spectacular fashion. The rest were quick but like I say, nowhere near as complete as the Golf. I've started a wee slush fund that the Mrs doesn't know about. Gonna get those ugly bumpers/skirts colour coded (why VW?). Then maybe exhaust and remap if I don't get busted. I'm absolutely hooked!!
