Performance springs
« on: March 17, 2012, 12:45:41 pm »
I'm wanting some performance springs, something like eibach sport lines (heard good things about these). However, having no previous experience I have a few questions. Firstly, I only want a drop of about 20-25mm but on eibachs website it says a drop of up to 50mm. Now do I specify what drop I want or can I only get 50mm? Secondly, the stance of the gti is lower at the front than the back so is it best to keep this stance I.e get a 20mm drop all round or should I lower the rear more than the front? Some noob questions but like I said I've not lowered a car before and want to get it right. Thanks everyone.

In my experience the Eibach pro kit lowers around 23mm front and 26mm back.

How does the pro kit differ from the sport line? On the website it says that has a drop of 40mm! That's too much for the roads round me! That figure of 23-26 would be perfect I think.  :happy2:

Sportline are the option to go for if you want a bigger drop.

I have fitted a fair few eibach kits and the drop right after fitting is 23/26 but I imagine they will settle a little after a few miles.

23-26 would be perfect for me. I think 40mm would be too much. What other springs could offer that kind of drop? Thanks  :happy2:

How would you rate the H&R equivalent to the Eibachs? I'm torn between the 2.

The eibach sportlines dropped my car about 20mm :happy2:
Same comfort level as stock, no catching, sits just about right for my liking

I've got H&R's and they're great

No rubbing, scraping or issues with speed bumps  :happy2: and ride quality is as good as standard.

See here for a pic of a GTI on H&R's: http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/p/58584/442447.aspx

They are slightly lower than the Eibachs and look all the better for it IMHO.

Can't seem to find Eibach Pro Kit for ED30 anywhere, am I being a plank or don't they do them for my car. Heard the Pro Kit was a more stock feel than the Sportline ones.

ED30 kit is same as Golf 5 GTI kit Eibvach pro kit # E10-85-014-06-22

Sportlines simply drop further so alongside that will be a bit less forgiving
