Lupo Gti

Sold my car yesterday, sad to see it go but fancy a change.

Decided on a Lupo Gti, however having no Lupo experience means I'm not sure what i should be looking out for when buying?

Heard stories of gear boxes going? But no evidence to support this.

Can any body give me a buying guide? Things to look out for? Common problems?

Lupo's are pretty solid tbh, only thing ive ever heard about it occasionally the electrics can get a bit gremlin but other than that its normal process of an inspection - ie service schedules, bodywork checks etc etc

My wife has had two Lupo GTIs and tbh we've had no problems with either. First was a 51 plate (1st of the 6 speed) and second was an 05 plate with leather and air. Exhaust brackets started to crack on the 05 car. Just had these welded up as the exhaust was fine. Tyres , if you stick with the original size, are only made by dunlop and toyo. Go with the toyos. Half the price , quiet and last forever.
Ratios are nice and close on the 6 speed so it feels really zippy.  If she didn't have to travel as far to work we'd have another straight away. Loved them !

Look at the gutterings on the roof, prone to rusting, and also around the boot handle area.
Also the ARB clips can go, but these are only about £15 to replace, and the clutch can get a bit spongey over time.
Good little cars though, the wife has a GTI model and she loves it.

Couple of my friends are big fans of lupo gtis, think they have had 5 between them lol and yeah gearboxes are a common issue so check if it's been replaced recently etc

I very nearly bought a Lupo GTI some time before the golf. Still got a hankering for one. Trying to convince the mrs to get one to replace the polo. Theres one for sale 3 miles away ATM, black, £3695 and very low mileage
