Mfd2 iPod problem

I purchased the lead and it plugged into the cd changer port in the back of the stereo I then took a live and a ground. The iphone4s now charges off the lead but when I double click cd to try and play music it just beeps when I try and up the volume???

Any ideas it's driving me potty.
