K04 conversion on standard k03, how safe and reliable is it?
« on: March 19, 2012, 04:02:22 pm »
Thinking of doing the conversion, how much work is involved and what is the max power output from a standard gti?
Also how safe is it?

it uses all OEM parts and is very reliable. The maximum you could get with K04 conversion is ca 330-340 bhp. However to obtain that you need supporting mods - full exhaust, intake, HPFP. Many user here use their cars as daily with no issues whatsoever

 :happy2:

What about injectors, rods etc???

Can we really just get away with upgrading the turbo, as well as the support needs, full exhaust, intake, HPFP?

dont needs rods.

the min you need is,  S3 IC turbo and injecters and few pipes.

Can it handle it all safely long term with no issues? Also how's the fuel economy on a cruise and on motorways and no! I am not saying this conversion will reduce consumption but increase it by a lot obviously with the new driving attitude  :driver:
I have eibach springs on am sure I will be needing a few other mods to support the conversion which will be done very shortly

This is something that iam seriously considering, don't know if I can justify £2500 over and above all the other parts that are required!

Yeah but then there's stuff like a decent set of brakes etc, then the map on its own is £600 isn't it?

the price all depends if you manage to source used parts etc

New prices examples
-Intake 300
-milltek non res exhaust 1000
-autotech hpfp 300
-s3 turbo 1600
-s3 injectors 500
-Forge IC 400
You're looking at ca 4k give or take but you can source the parts used much cheaper

However with this kind of power you're also looking at supporting mods to give you most of the power like big brake kit, suspension, ARBs, WALK. Also very likely is you're clutch will be slipping shortly so you need to factor in clutch etc
Red 2008 GTI, H&R ARB, b12 suspension, walk, milltek non-res full exhaust, forge IC, tarox 10 pot big brake kit, RS4 valve, Forge SSK, Autotech HPFP, Xenons, K04 Turbo, Quaife LSD, South Bend stage 3 Daily with SMF clutch, XB and UB Unibraces

Where did you source the parts? Just eBay or similar?
