Has my orange peel gotten worse?
« on: March 22, 2012, 11:44:43 am »
Was walking back from work today and my car is parked by my front door. Don't know if this is even possible, but the factory orange peel looks even worse than it has done normally.

Is it possible for factory orange peel to get worse? Is is because I'm using better products to clean my car so it's more apparent?

My car's due an enhancement detail with Russ (Midlands Car Care) in about 2 weeks, will that help any?

My car is a 2006/55 Phantom Black A3 with no paintwork to anything other than the bonnet as far as I'm aware. There's certainly no signs of accident damage and the orange peel is all over all panels and is uniform in nature.

Orange peel is due to the clearcoat finish and the imperfections on the surface. Removal requires machine correction (more than just an enhancement will provide) and takes several days. Can also be done with wetsanding.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
