DMR Ring Prep - Boss Man's Red Missile!!
« on: March 22, 2012, 09:46:42 pm »
Hello Again Chaps,

Well I'm sure you are all familiar with this particular MK5!  As Steve was off to the Nurburgring for a thorough test of the new hardware and software on his car, he asked his most favourite detailer to give his car a spruce up ready for the trip!!  :jumpmove:

Due to time restrictions (yes Steve was late!  ) there are no before pics I'm afraid, but I'm sure you can all have a wild guess at how she looked!!

It was agreed that a light enhancement would be carried out, including a light interior detail.

- Wheels cleaned using AS Smart Wheels, vikan/lambswool brushes, decontaminated with Tardis/Iron X
- Tyres/arches cleaned using AS G101, vikan brushes
- Citrus pre-wash via foam lance, to remove loose debris/dirt, high pressure rinse
- Bodywork, door shuts etc washed using Auto Finesse Lather, 2BM and lambswool mitts
-Paintwork decontaminated with AS Tardis, contamination remove using Iron X
- Paintwork Cleansed with Lime Prime via DA, removing light swirl marks/haze, preparing paint ready for wax. Several areas had bad hazing, these areas were given a few passes with a microfibre pad to give a little more bite.
- Dodo Juice Purple Haze applied to paintwork
- Wheels lightly polished by hand, sealed using Mint Rims
- Tyres, plastics and rubbers dressed with Car Pro Perl, glass cleaned, exhaust/chrome polished
- Light interior detail, include mats/carpets clean, fabrics, plastics etc, glass cleaned

About 8 hours worth of work ended up with this:

I think we all agreed she had never looked so fresh, but we also agreed there was more room for improvement at a later date!

Thanks for reading!  :happy2:

The skylights really help bring out the shine in the paintwork, so I'm puzzled as to why the Boss looks so glum in the pics!

Sorry Steve, I know you love the green and purple rims but the car looks awesome with black rims.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Bloody detailing.  :fighting:  every time i tried to put the coffee cups on the roof the would just slide off.  Have you been using Teflon polish.  :rolleye:

The car looked superb first thing loading it onto the trailer.  :congrats:

It is 'Tornado Pink' Steve what do you expect!  :pomppomp:

As Jay said, it looks as though it's the lighting from the skylights in the Roof!  :happy2:
