So, become the owner of a very tidy MK5 gti with just 70,000 millage. A little higher than I thought but majority motorway (and it was next to a motorway) made me feel confident. Went for the test drive, did all my point checks like pulling the rubber seals back looking for resprays etc etc and went back the next day to pick her up.
This is maybe a few days after I purchased it
As you can see I already put a bonnet bra on and my token lucky monkey. Oh an he was kind enough to leave me with about 6 jellybelly air freshies which made it smell amazing! (good sales tac?)
First major problem was the DV going bust, which I could seriously feel!
Piece of urine to change, would highly recommend changing or checking yours every now and then - I wrote a guide to help determine a DV and PCV valve problem which is here
http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,44709.0.htmlSo basic stuff really that I've done include debade the front which im still debating about, Im tempted to go back to the previous badged grilll. I then went ahead and polished my car by machine:
As you can imagine I was very happy with the outcome and plan to go a step further with a medium compound to help remove some of the more stubborn swirls dotted here and there.
Did a little vagcomming and unlocked some nice features which made me happy but can't really show pictures.
Did some interior mods, including the door seal gaurds which I havn't taken a snap of yet but they do look nice! Also seat inserts on the way!
And thats where we stand at the moment
**Update**
Couple of new addiditions, spent some time on my day of work trying to install cruise control to realise I didn't have the right socket to remove the steering wheel.. All i can say is taking the airbag off doesn't feel to nice
So I decided to put my old grill back on complimented with a new (for those that know me won't be surprised) carbon fibre DIY badge and the additions of the plate holders from PSI tuning (brilliant price and very nice looking! - 1+ recommend from me)
oh and one of the cheeky easter bunny!
Now on Eibach Springs
