brembo 986 caliper by lotus-gt, on Flickr

purchased from oli, should be here tomorrow.

Also, took a couple of side-on pics this morning showing how the car is stitting now on the new wheels/bilsteins.  It's settled a bit but looks pretty consistent height wise front and back.  Wheel-centre-to-arch measures 335mm front and 340mm rear which is spot on.

.. and a pic including Alex's feet:

Refit the wheel, load of clearance:

And a pic taken a few minutes ago showing how it's sitting on the new bouncers:

Ride on the H&R is very, very nice - better than stock I think.  Much better suited to what I need the car for - it's not a track day weapon for me, more a high mileage gt car.

As ever, Alex did a fantastic job.  Thanks matey.

The Bilsteins were adjustable though weren't they?  I take it these H&Rs are comfier than the Bilsteins were on their softest setting?

Hi mate.
This looks proper purposeful and mean, for a wagon it's completely unexpected. What a swell job you've done.  :driver:

Thanks for the positive comments guys.. I'm very happy with the way this car is turning out.

Janner_Sy;  yes the H&R ride better than the B16's did even on their lowest setting.  TBH with the bilsteins you always have a stiff spring, regardless of what level you set the damping.  If you do track days and don't do a massive road mileage then you could live with them and they'd be awesome on track I'd expect, but I do a lot of miles (30k miles a year) so I need something more compliant.  The H&R are still firm/sporty which suits the vRS, but its a far nicer road setup IMO.

How come the swap to Cupra + super pro over the TT arms Rob?

How come the swap to Cupra + super pro over the TT arms Rob?

combination of the extra track of the tt arm plus the offset and width of the wheels i'm running plus the relaxed nature of my H&r's vs. the b16s (allows the wheel to move around a lot more) and my low ride height and the tt caster means i'm very close to rubbing - take away prob just one of those aspects and it'd be fine.   although its just about ok now i suspect when it has winter tyres back on it in 6 months time it WILL be rubbing.

shame to lose the handling benefit of the tt arms (it really is good!) but hopefully with the cupra arm and camber adjustable superpro ball joints i'll still be able to run say -1degree neg camber at the front so it'll still handle pretty good plus the cupra arms are also alloy so i retain the weight saving and being the same size /geometry as the oe skoda/gti arms they'll sit better in the arch.  pretty sure mike had smilar issues on his cupra and took the same route.

the tt arms are a great mod and if i had more oe-ish wheel offset or width, or ran the car a bit higher, or had stiffer suspension then they'd be staying on the car.  i've popped them up in the for sale section so hopefully i'll be able to get my money back on these and offset most (some?!) of the costs of the new bits.
