Looks great, nice and clean.
I wonder if they didn't do it from factory so that it made ED30 owners feel they were getting more exclusivity for their extra cash

Maybe , however they should have thought more about making the GTIs arse end look different to the standard Golf IMHO , 3 chrome letters and an exposed twin exhaust arent much of an upgrade from the 1.4 S!

second that !

I reckon VW should offer to colour-code all mk5 gti rear valances on a recall-basis,,oh and re-inburse people who've already had it done,,, along with a written apology for being cheap-skates in the first place

I can't deny it looks great and I'm still considering it, but I don't dislike mine as it is now. I think VW were trying to put a bit of MK1 history in the design like the old arch black spats bumpers and spoilers etc. - if the tartan interior is anything to go by. Most high end cars these days are colour coded so we tend to feel a bit short changed with an unpainted valance! The original Mk1 was designed in quite a subtle way so a three letter badge and a twin exhaust only is fitting IMHO.  :popcornsoda:
'05 GTI - laser blue, 5dr, DSG, blue glass, heated leather, highline, cruise, sat nav, 10 speaker stereo,MFSW, xenons, 18" Monza, puddle lights, Ipod, retractable mirrors, factory tints, winter/summer mats, bootmat, luggage net, mudflaps, tailored blinds, x-tec plate leds - always looking for more OEM options.......pretending the pikey paddles are OEM+!!

Very smart indeed and it`s a job that`s on a list of things to do with mine.

Did you remove the whole bumper to fit it or manage without having to do that?

£57 for the new valance that's trade price from TPS,,, Then £100 for the prep and painting...

I removed the valance and re-fitted the new one with the bumper still on the car, but wouldn't do it that way again, would definitely remove the whole bumper...

in order for it to be done properly it needs to be removed from the car,, then the body-shop need to prep it followed by plastic primer then a two-pack primer all before the base coat and laquer,
in other words they would have needed the valance for a few days, so it's easier to just buy another one,, or be with-out the car.
