since when did the government ever listen to the little old public Ian!!! ?
"We" as in the ones that fell for it going out filling their tanks when actual Dates were not even announced!!.
they could say Milk next, and everyone would clear the shelves next!

Hind sight I guess is a wonderfull thing. but as has always been said, no dates are yet to be confirmed, so that should of stopped most people from fearing the worlds end.

Ok so how did "We" cause that? "We" are only guilty of reacting to the information given, no more, no less.

By over reacting Ian. The shortages and now pump prices going up in some cases to over £1.50, forecourts are now cashing in along with the governments extra £35 million alone in their back pocket from all the overspending today alone. strikes if they are gonna happen are at least another 10 days away. Unless you plan to park your car for the next week, fuelling up today may be wise, but otherwise you've wasted your hard earned and may need to fill up again nxt week.Either way the government have fisted those good and proper by hyping up the possibility of fuel shortages.

The government have made some people panic, others read into it and like me, haven't bought any more then normal.Which in the Hyundai, doesn't ammount much more then you could fit in my breakfast eggcup.

I certainly haven't panicked. I just made sure that if and when the strike does happen I ain't stuck without fuel due to my situation. As I explained earlier. You may also find that others have good reason to ensure they have fuel. Taxi drivers for example need fuel.

Yes I will agree some have panicked. But that is only due to the misinformation of the government and the press. It certainly isn't our fault as the population didn't just wake up yesterday morning and think "fcuk it I'm going to buy as much fuel as possible just in case"  :chicken:

And the government are laughing due to all the extra excise duty due to everyone panic'ing..

along with the governments extra £35 million alone in their back pocket from all the overspending today alone.

People keep saying this but it's bollox.

Over say a 3 month period people will use a certain amount of fuel.  If they decide to buy that fuel all in a one month period, the Treasury doesn't earn extra revenue they just get it all at once.  People aren't using extra fuel they are simply staying topped up.  The only extra potential is only slight from interest gained on having the money in the bank slightly earlier.

which ties in rather nicely with it being the end of the financial year..... It's been a con as far as I'm concerned..

x2, it's a happy coincidence for the government and all the fuel companies that this little windfall has all taken place just before the tax year closes. Somebody's getting better bonuses next quarter for this and it ain't Joe Public.

p.s. have been running on the red light since Tuesday  :scared: so I put half a tank in today. Only V-Power Diseasel left @ 1.539 a litre!!!   :scared: :scared: :sad1:
