My first impressions are that it's more a joining of forces in order to strengthen the breadth and reach of each of their markets.

Stasis = Hardware

Revo = Software

They compliment each other but don't actually need each other. Or does Revo feel threatened by APR in the international marketplace?

I suggest that it's an inspired plan to expand commercially but also with a dollop of desperation in the currently tough commercial world.

Which of these two partners stands to gain more?

I've never heard of Stasis before today and I certainly do NOT feel inspired or interested to buy their hardware products over the likes of Bilstein, KW, Milltek, Forge, ITG, etc etc etc.

I didn't like it when Revo were keen to sell me an ITG intake rather than the one my own independent research favoured. I would have preferred to have bought Bilstein rather then KW which VWR encouraged me to have - Although I am happy with the KW V3 and the suspension setup VWR did for me.

Not sure it is either. I think it is REVO trying to take a slice of the APR dominance in the US in response to APR trying to get a slice of the REVO dominance in the UK. REVO don't develop their own hardware like APR so probably feel they need this to help

Or in other words Tit for Tat  :grin:

Rather than Revo feeling "threatened" by APR dominance, perhaps it's more a case of them wanting to raise their stakes in the game to stay in competition with APR. The UK is a relatively small marketplace.

I think I prefer smaller more independent companies rather than international conglomerates.

After spending the weekend with Revo and Stasis at Bruntingthorpe and taking a good look round the new Stasis cars I think there is definitely a market in the UK for their products.

It wont appeal to the masses but with the R&D they put in to each and every upgraded component it does make a very interesting prospect for someone that wants to buy a Turnkey vehicle where each and every part fitted has been designed to work together, right down to the way the weight of the wheel affects the damping settings  and the way traction and torque curves are matched in the software to what the car can actually do in real terms on the road. Stasis seem to have a very in-depth philosophy to tuning.

What it effectively does is brings the hardware and software elements of the VAG tuning world together so that the end user can have a complete package including wheels, brakes, suspension, exhaust and software that has been designed to work together, as opposed to buying and installing parts which may not compliment eachother.

Revo already have a presence in the US judging by some of the US based forums.

I've seen some STaSIS cars at Audi Driver International @ Combe. Mainly supercharged R8's that sound and go well but I assume they would already have a software side dealing with them. It could be good. Lets wait and see. Worst case Revo just gained 550 new dealers.  :popcornsoda:

The US is a much bigger market than UK and Revo going for it in US can only be good for them, not so good for APR's dominance over, but when you attack someone's home market aggressively they are only going to retaliate or run n hide, the latter is not in Revo make up  :happy2:

Will it bring the Stassis Warranty??

http://www.stasisengineering.com/support/warranty-and-compliance/warranty-details

I think Stassis have 'agreements' with a large number of US dealers who fit their products to new cars pre and post delivery.

Seems STaSIS only cover most of the Audi range and Golf GTI's.  :confused:

....I think it will only appeal to those who are very wealthy - Rather like the Sportec packages which APS offer (APS are also a Stasis dealer). As a result, enthusiasts would find it more difficult to spread the costs of their mods and also lose the advantages and enjoyment of researching and deciding for themselves bit by bit over time.

This kind of Stasis-Revo package works best for those who have expensive cars to start with like R8's, S5's, etc, and who don't want to get their heads involved - They just want a faster individual status symbol car and will probably swop for another one relatively quickly.

So I don't see it matching the GTI/Seat/Skoda market so well.

It's not joining forces at all - StaSiS have acquired Revo Technik! Didn't realise they acquired Eurojet also....

Maybe the owners of RT have decided to cash in before it's too late?

I'm not sure it'll help the VW/Seat/Skoda marques at all really such is their focus on just the Audi range. StaSiS could ask to charge more for the Revo software now.

I guess this is what Keith@APR was referring to when he said prepare for more industry announcements coming up!

The last thing REVO needs is a price increase.  :signLOL:

Oh dear! So if this American company Stasis have acquired Revo, where does it leave Revo's support of their existing customers?

Stasis sounds Greek, like Stavros!

This is what the CFO of StaSiS said....

“This acquisition is part of the continuing evolution and improvement of our product line, and extends the strategic consolidation of the Volkswagen Group aftermarket that started with our acquisition of Eurojet last year,” said Todd Cope, CFO of STaSIS. “STaSIS now has the most capability and broadest geographic reach of any performance company in the Volkswagen Group space.”

Acquisition means bought / taken over to me!!!

Which Eurojet? - There are several companies who use that name.

Sounds to me like Stasis are more interested in acquisitions than a genuine enthusiasm for motorsport and cars. In time, will Stasis even keep the brand name Revo? I may be wrong of course.

Means bought / taken over to me too, Lee! "Acquired" is just a polite way of saying owned lock stock and barrel, we are your new bosses!
