problem with forge twintercooler for ed30
« on: March 26, 2012, 09:18:32 pm »
just tried fitting my forge twintercooler for ed 30. ive found the driver side hose to be about 3 inches too long, so when i connect to standard pipe it cause forge hose to kink badly. has anyone else had this problem?

Yep everyone.  You need to cut to fit, it is a right pain in the arse because you have three connections and each cut effects the other.  :fighting:

Why the Fcuk they cant just get them made to the correct size i really dont know.  :booty:

Well my opinion of Forge has been tainted forever after the latest ring trip, They had the pit Garage next to us, and they had a matt black Mk5 GTI with them for filming and to take around the ring.
As a tuning company you would think they know a bit about whats what, but no! they had some bling wheels with silly offset and cheap stretch tyres.  :chicken: :chicken: :chicken: not what a normal person would consider as a fast track set up for the ring.
Then they opened the bonnet to let the engine cool and low and behold there was no twintake.  just a chrome piece of tubing with a filter on the end.  :signLOL:

The instruction mention a knife, but not which bits to cut off and how much. I dont want to cut off too much and then find it doesnt fit. im guessing il just have to give it a go.

I found it best to position the hose under the ports so that it will clear everything and not be kinked if in place. Looking straight up at it make a mark where you want the end of the hose to be and notice the angle (marking both sides of the hose) at the turbo outlet port and trim with a utility razor/box cutter. Place it under the ports again and mark the oem fmic next and trim. Place it again where it will be and trim the forge location lastly. Always trim where the hose will end on the port.

They're 3SDM wheels. If you look closely they're the sponsor furthest back on above the sill. I hate them personally but they're meant to be "well cool" if you're into air ride and mincing.

I agree with you that they shouldn't be going down that path, but hey they're in it to make money and a bit like PVW demonstrates nowadays it's all about "show". Nobody care about the "go" anymore

it seems the trimming process isn't actually too difficult. just do one hose at a time and make sure enough length is left. all done in half n hour.
got apr hpfp in too. car is looking good.
now im ready for new remap on saturday. goodbye superchips! hello torquetronix.

Yep, one step at a time. Cheers  :drinking:

Do you have open grilles to show off the hoses?
