Ed 30. Never been a fan of the Evo, bit too showy and chavy if you ask me. Also turbo lag is bad I've heard.

Insurance plus big bi annual services on the evo's that are crazy expensive put me off buying one a while back - the evo's are stunning machines but just on ownership + residual costs vs the golf it doesn't stack up.

It all comes down to money really. The Evo would be more fun no doubt, but you'll have to pay for it!

if you don't do mad miles then go for the evo i.e. its just a toy but if its an everyday car that will do everything and take most things you can throw at it then go for the golf its been a life saver for me the last few months having to load stuff in the boot.The evo will need a service every 4500 miles and will also lots of other stuff doing and make sure its one that the last owner has been anal about keeping it in top condition

ED30 mate, purely for servicing costs and the fact they dont get much more than 20mpg driven steadily, add to that they are a total chav/Pikey car and you have my answer (Like the Scoobies are too!)
