How to switch air con on?

Ok I know I am dumb but I am used to cars with an ac switch. How the hell do you switch air con on in a mk5 gti?????

Make sure the A/C light is it(2008/on)  or Econ light is not lit(on my 2007 it's a little confusing),well that's how it work's on mine!

Thanks. Mine a 2006 so i ensured econ is off and no cold air???

Might need regassing(not sure if i'd spelt that right!)or even worse the MK5's have a tendency to screw up the air con compressor!

Depending what heating system you have but on my duel zone you turn the settings to lo

Thanks. Mine a 2006 so i ensured econ is off and no cold air???

Econ = Economy mode, ie it turns the compressor off disabling the air-con. So its effectively just a fan.

Makes a funny noise coming from the vents when I put auto ob? Does this mean compressor fail then??

yeah mine did this when the gas was low, it was kind of groaning noise mine had.  hopefully low gas and maybe a leak and not the compressor failure problem

Had similer on mine (duel zone), went for a re-gas and found it had a big leak and an electrical problem, was fixed in the end though without a compressor replacement (which can be VERY expensive!).

mines a 2007, and was completely empty due to the leak.
