Fault codes
« on: March 27, 2012, 09:29:35 pm »
Hi all

Recently had a full service, dsg service and a few other bits at Awesome GTI in Manchester. They were great and the car does feel better / smoother now but they didn't give me much info on the following fault codes that came up but cleared by them.

They said they could just have come up from the work being done and said to just drive it and see if anything feel strange. As mentioned, the car actually feels better but now every noise, bump or squeak also feels like the end of the manifold!

Any one got any ideas on what I should do? My instinct just tells me to go to local VW and suffer the bank account hemmerage that they will suggest to replace / repair the manifold. The other part of me says drive on and see what happens?!

Your help is massively appreciated as I don't know much (anything) about this stuff bar the manifold is costly!

Car: 55 plate Golf GTI with DSG box - 45k miles

3 Faults Found:

008200 -intake manifold flap; bank 1
             P2008 - 001 - Electrical Malfunction
012600 -intake manifold Runner Control
             P3138 - 008 - Regulation Control Deviation
000256- Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)
             P0100 -004 - Supply Voltage - Intermittent

Readiness: 0000 0000

Faults do pop up when the battery is disconnected for servicing your dsg.
I would do a basic setting for the Intake Manifold Runner with vcds http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/2.0l_TFSI_(AXX/BGB/BPJ/BPY/BWA)#Intake_Manifold_Runner then rescan  to see if all is clear.

Ah ok great thanks, if genuine fault codes would they come back up almost straight away or should I wait a week or so? VW want £60 to run a diagnostic check that's all!

I've edited my post above after rethinking.
And yes, the fault codes would soon come back if there was a problem.

Where are you located as I'm sure you can get a forum member with a vcds cable to do the necessary for you instead of going to VW and being ripped off.

Cheers would rather drop a few quid / beers with someone to have a look. I swear VW would check and just drag me into the workshop there and then!

I'm in Lancaster in the NW but happy to travel somewhere close by. Manchester not a million miles.

Thanks again!

Here is the vcds register http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,120.0.html

Find someone close to you and PM them.
NB you need 10+ posts to PM so you need to post a few more times to get to that number

Hi,
Saw the bat symbol in the sky so popped over to see what all the rawcus is about ;-)

I'm not far from blackpool, jct 3 m55.
I'm happy to plug her in and see what we find?
I don't claim to be a vcds expert, but its worth investigating before throwing yourself at the mercy of VW.
Pm me your number, I'll give you a bell.

Hi Jason

Cheers! I got the PM notification via email but for the life of me I cant find out how to view it on here?! ( I work for a web agency too! )

I think my local garage is going to do it for me when they change a CV Boot for me.

Thank you very much though, if it turns out they cant do the code bit ill let you know. Really good of you to offer! Fingers crossed the codes don't come back up :-)

Hi Jason (and all)

Just thought i would let you know not a single code came up after recent garage visit. Would that seem a bit weird or likely, as Awesome said, just because of the service and new parts?

Cheers!
