Rob Austin is clearly a very talented driver as he has shown when his car has been running well. I reckon he is one to watch but the competition on track is very close amongst the top 10.

That Audi is quite fast but some reliability issues still causing problems I think.

The little Golf on the other hand is just too slow against everyone apart from Tony Hughes who is always last anyway.

Can't see them sticking with the VW in 2013 when big majority of the field will be running full NGTC spec cars.

....I'm thinking the same but the Golf did quite well in Race 2 by finishing 9th and got some TV mention. It's unfortunately not consistent though.

Golf on front row for reverse grid Race 3.... For how long though? Be nice if they do alright. BTCC means anything can happen!

Was there today to watch the action in the freezing cold!
After a disastrous race 1 AmD got the little Golf's electrical gremlins sorted and Ollie did a fine job in Race 2 to get P8.

Started on front row in Race 3 but was down to 10th or somewhere by end of first lap!

But did well to stick with Mat Jackson through most the race to finish 8th Again although would have been great if he kept TOC behind him!

Bad day for Frank Wrathall though new engine installed but mapping not quite right it seems.

Off to Silverstone in 2 weeks time then VIP finale at Brands next month with Porsche

Can't wait!

One of the race commentators said that "the little Golf" was "very popular" amongst BTCC race watchers.

The golf is hardly shown in most races as it usually near the back.

I was also there in the freezing cold yesterday. Was so pleased to see the golf doing well. First time it's ever actually looked like it's got some decent pace.

I wonder if the Golf has at last found some pace, although you could see how it couldn't keep up with the 'big boys'. Ollie Jackson drove well and avoided trouble.

But somehow, I doubt if the team will continue next season.

It's an S2000 spec car so can't continue in it's current form next year and the costs/time to convert to NGTC for a team the size of AMD wouldn't make sense IMHO.

....That's exactly what I was thinking too but I didn't know the exact terms as you have posted, Steve. It's a pity but that's how the cookie has crumbled. Fortunately there are other race series for us to enjoy watching VWs competing.  :happy2:

That is the circuit formation i did a couple of weeks ago. You need some balls of steel and great skills to do what they were doing on the oval section in the rain.  :notworthy:
