Edition 30 - footwell/ wishbone clunk????
« on: March 28, 2012, 11:07:45 pm »
Has anyone had or heard any clunks from the footwell area when going from reverse to forward??

I reverse off my drive and it makes the clunk/ click noise??

It happens when I am turning usually on full lock at slow manuveres....

I am thinking a WALK kit will fix it??

Any similar probs??

Any cures?

Apart from that little annoyance  it's a great motor??

All help and advice appreciated......

Oh it's in for minor service at the stealers next week, I did mention it last time but they did their visual check and found nothing wrong  !?!?!?!?

Could be the 'subframe clunk', getting to become quite a common fault lately it seems, maybe give the ECS tuning subframe bolt and spacer kit a try? Only £15 from most uk retailers or around £9 if you buy the parts from the dealer   :happy2:

Basically what happens is that the subframe bolts become loose over time allowing the frame to move slightly causing a knock / noise, the kit usually sorts it if this is your problem but I'd also recommend going over all the other frame bolts whilst it's up on the ramps

I am getting this a long with many other noises. I thought it was my coilovers spring moving in the seat.

I have bought the kit not had chance to fit yet but had a look at my bolts there not loose and no marks from movement so unsure whether to bother fitting.

I had the bolt and spacer kit fitted last week and it's stopped my 'knock', for now... :happy2:
£6.87 from the dealer with a little discount and 10 mins to fit whilst it was on the ramps having some work on the brakes done, popped a new power flex lower mount in whilst we were at it too

7M3499349A  - Plate x 2 @ £1.72 each

N90823501 - Bolt x 2 @ £2.24 each

I got 10% off the spacers and 19% off the bolts so a total of £8.08 with the vat for the full kit

Just worth mentioning....................

I recently had my springs removed and replaced with some H&R ones.

The old (standard) ones were on upside down and were causing a clunk ONLY when going very slowly coming off from my driveway or going back onto it. The guys who fitted my new ones let me know and this explained it.

Maybe worth a check?

Andy.

Does that mean the factory put them on the wrong way round?

Doubt it but mine have been changed previously which is when it happened. If yours have, then worth checking I guess.
