Advice please all mountain bikers!!
« on: March 29, 2012, 09:55:51 pm »
Looking at getting this guys http://www.decathlon.co.uk/81-2011-id_8168695.html

Just after some advice, I'm a newbie to this but want to start cycling to work and the occasional forest day now and then. Has really good reviews and has a high spec for the price. Whats everyone's opinion or can you recommend something else?

Thanks everyone!!  :happy2:

If i was spending that sort of cash id probably gdt one of the Boardman range. Always get good reviews and are usually better spec than there rivals. Failing that some of last years range of Specialized would be anoher option.

As above, with that budget you can't beat the boardman bikes. Good spec for the money and good geometry

I reckon those Btwin Rockrider mountain bikes are on par with the Boardmans for the same money. They are very nice in the flesh (like the Boardmans) and they have some good reviews!

IIRC The Btwin  came out top on a Gadget show test too. :happy2:

From what I've seen in Decathlon and Halfords I'd be different and get the Rockrider.

Have u thought about spending £500 on a 2nd hand bike?

You could get a beaut

Just had a quick look around and to get avid brakes, rock shox forks for £500 i can't get close. Sub £700 seems to get you suntour forks and clarkes brakes!

Seems a good buy, I'd def check out some second hand bikes though!
