It's a compelling argument, but they'd have said to the previous owner "because it needs new tyres/brakes/a service/scratches removed - we're offering you £x less than you want"... they won't have paid for it out of the goodness of their heart!

i say hold firm too  they know you want it but are more than likely want to see who else will nibble at it at its new price

i'd call something like wednesday morning, midweek and slow in the salesroom to ask if they have thought anymore about your offer.

residuals dont go up, that car looses money the longer they keep it and theyve had it a while

i got mine from the dealer, and i have to say they would not budge on price, although it was well priced compared to non bmw dealerships.

Had some good advice on here, thanks for it all. If i have to bite the bullet and pay up, so be it.

I am normally a pushover in negotiations, quite proud I stood my ground but guted never went my way, will be going back with my tail between my legs.

Someone on another forum said I should push for some retrofit options if i am coughing up the extra, as they cost a dealer very little, any idea what sort of things I could see if I can get??

Spoke to the salesman I was dealing with yesterday, made him my offer, he called back to tell me he didn't realise another salesman had taken a deposit on it yesterday evening.
