if R32UK was a member and viewer on this site, i love it to see him read that i bought one for a steal!. He was addiment i wouldnt find one for less then £800 end of last year and refused to conceed that RNS510 prices would come down, as they are on average now available for around £600 or so.

I didnt see eye to eye with him on t'other forum as i expect your remember.

Mine has the later steering wheel as above ^^

I thought these were the older versions? My one's dont have the raised edges. They are smooth buttons.

Mine are the same as these (not my picture)

I'll be buying an RNS510 next week if I get paid enough so hope it works  :scared:

^^^ My buttons are the "newer style" in the pic above.  I think these were replaced by the ones with the raised edge (but same layout) later.

There is no star and volume for stereo is on the other side.

The old MFSW did not have the star button, and the buttons physically were covered in a plastic thing; that is, they were not discrete from the plastic around them. The newer type has the star button but the old covering. The newest version is IIRC electrically identical to the star type but using cheaper-to-manufacture discrete buttons.

The old MFSW also had the highline computer controls on the wiper stalk, an up/down/select button. The newer MFSW has these functions integrated into the steering wheel buttons themselves (a placement I find unsatisfactory, I like to change my track without having to see what the next track is). The problems with the RNS are with the older type MFSW.

and the later as well!!, mines the later and have the RNS fitted!.If you have from 56 to 57 reg's and have MFSW, you'll need the steering control module changing.

I have the AL steering control module with the newer type buttons. I had to take my mfd2 out the other day for repair so turned all the coding off for nav and radio on vcds,
One of my mates is a VW/Audi technician and has a few of these rns-510's laying about so we tried one which was a 2008 build and with out any coding or any thing the rns-510 worked with my steering buttons.  I will be purchasing one of these once I've got the money together.

Phil if you need my mates number to have a word with just send me a pm and ill pass it on,  He actually does all the auto electrical stuff for audi in leeds,  so he knows his stuff if he doesn't know then maybe Ray user name (aRd) over on www.uk-mkiv.net
