Mega weekend!
Collected the car Friday night after some work at APR - New USP low pressure fuel pump, madding for more power, and a fix to my cold start issues.
Car is quick epically quick now.
found some massive cracks in the brake disc (rotor) which really needed replacing, so limped it home desperately trying to get hold of some before Santa pod fun on Sunday (today).
DaveB to the rescue! He arranged for some to be ready for me to collect on Saturday, all the way up in Rochdale!!
Got he R888's fitted in the morning, then took the 3 hour 45 minute journey to Rochdale and collected the new rotors. Kudos to Dave and Alan for arranging this.
Went down to MK VW Racing/APR and Keith let me use the workshop to change the rotors over, quite a long job as you have to remove and replace the bolts from the rotors to the bell. turns out we didn't have an imperial Hex key that the bolts needed, so had to quickly rush to Halfords just before it closed! Had a nice go in the VWR Scirocco though!
Got the brakes fitted eventually then a new map was loaded and tested for timing pull etc. Got the Travelodge in Northampton about 11pm last night, just in the nick of time.
Drove to Santa pod, car was EPIC, best its ever been.
Then two miles from Pod, this happened:
Basically had stopped to wait for something, then pulled away a bit quicker than normal and it stalled, started the engine, and it would not then go into gear!!
Called recovery, obviously nothing they could do, but managed to get it into gear when the engine was not running then start it and jump into motion, did mange second gear once too.
had a decent day at pod considering..
Car got picked up and then dropped off at APR again
Keith reckons its either the release bearing or the Pressure plate - hoping for the cheaper option. They will take a look this week.
Thanks to Keith and the team at APR for all the hard work and patience.
They will be mapping it to take advantage of the WMI now, so even more power to come! woohoo!
