Ok, its fixed.
But i have a problem. The front tyres are far too grippy (R888's) causing the car to bog on launch big time. This means you can launch at any rev's, but it always falls down to 1-2k RPM, and the turbo has to spool again. I need to swap the tyres round so the Goodyears are on the front, to hopefully induce some slip on the front.

You should go with Goodyears all round for a decent launch for straight line work. For corners the R888's all round or on front. :smiley:

I wouldn't mix tyres front to rear, gets the haldex in a tiz apparently

When i was hooning and i mean reallu hooning the APR Golf R with its Hankook tyres, at no point did i think, this car really needs some R888s or semi slicks.  The only reason you need them on a FWD is purely to put the power down.

The S3 manual does tell you not to mix tyres

thinking out loud, the haldex only sends power to the rear when the front loses traction, so with mixed tyres with different grip would there be more switching of the power front to rear??????

maxxed out cornering on track would be the only reason to have semi slicks on a Haldex 4wd system, and even then if you mixed tyres front to rear, the grippier tyres should be at the front to ....

A) reduce the need for the grip and drive to have to be split to the rear
B) reduce understeer.

Having normal stret tyres like Goodyears on a 4WD Haldex car is even more beneficial as it does allow the traction to break a little on full bore launches and they have better overall grip in the wet. If you have 600bhp then just maybe you'll need semi-slicks. :smiley:

Think its dust/gravel mainly. But, it is quite smokey - so much fuel pressure.
