Don't let a VW dealer anywhere near alignment. Take it to an alignment specialist.

Midland VW did mine when I had the spring changed a week or so back.  Feels amazing and don't mix them up with a vw franchise, they are a superb VW specialist and with a machine like this http://www.midlandvw.co.uk/wheel_alignment.html you're in great hands

Damn right  :happy2:

I had steering column replaced under warranty. For some reason the car was all over the place so i took it back to VW. They told me they would do the full alignment as I had lowering springs on, and that the alignment place that setup my car, hadn't done a good job.  (the tracking etc was spot on before they fitted the new rack) :stupid:

I'm sure they were talking cack, and after leaving VW with the supposed freshly aligned car, I went straight to see the Professionals.

(I only caught the last 40mins of it, and tbh I wish i hadn't bothered. It was the one where Bodie and Doyle infiltrate an organisation that hire killers)

So then I went to the alignment guys, and it was laughable what VW had done.
It was so far out I had to go straight back to see the service manager at VW.

He was full of apologies and said trainee technicians were involved (so why didn't it get checked)
He then told me they would do the alignment right, but I refused. I told him I'd lost all confidence with them and that they should pay Tyre and Tech to sort it for me.
He said that no way could he authorise that, but that he could arrange a couple of free mot's for the future.

I agreed and that was that.

Find a reputable 4wheel alignment company for peace of mind.  :happy2:

Midland VW are a VW independent specialist just north of birmingham

they've aligned this car twice and a previous car i had once and i've never had any problems. after i had my WALK kitted car was pulling to the left a little, Jody (the owner) even invited me back after their calibration (a few days later) to have it done again at which point it ran straight and true

I've been to Midland VW and got them to do an alignment. Later went to BDM and TBH there was very little if anything that needed adjustment.

I recall a chap from wheelsinmotion who talked about using people who are properly trained up and the nearest chaps were BDM, which is why I used them. There's a very informative post from wheelsinmotion.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

i was told that the camber could not be adjusted by a hunter specialist. Is this true or a load of rubbish. Thinking of taking the car elsewhere for a second opinion.
