I was getting panicky the other day as i dont have differewnt octane maps on my cruise stalk, just different test files that i have been using.  I refused to queue for fuel and thought id leave it another day.  Ended up on fumes trying to find some 99ron,

Ref that thorneyt thread, its an interesting read, but also bear in mind they were sponsored by tesco 99 fuels

I asked R-Tech when I had mine mapped to 99RON if it would do any harm to run it on lower octane (for a quick splash n dash if no 99RON available) and they said it would be fine PROVIDING I don't go thrashing it.

Under low load your not getting much (or any) of the benefits of the higher octane.

In the end I had to travel all of 2 miles from home to a Shell station I had never been to before. Surprisingly there were no queues in spite of all the other Shell stations running dry at the time.

http://www.shell.co.uk/home/content/gbr/products_services/on_the_road/shell_station_locator/online_station_locator/

Just used this site to check for all the Shell stations where I work and near my home.  Called about 20 stations, and nobody had any V-power and weren't sure when they were going to get a delivery either.

I then took the executive decision of calling Shell UK.  I was on hold for about 15 minutes when a woman answered the phone - she proceeded to tell me that they were aware of the issue, and senior management within Shell had been informed,  but she still couldn't tell me when the stations were going to get deliveries   :stupid:

I guess it's time to pay tesco a visit  :sad1:

No V-power in the two stations I use. Had to settle for 95-ron!  :scared:

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Spoke to the guy behind the counter when I filled up with normal shell  on Saturday and he said at the time shell did not see vpower as a necessity and could be up to 2 weeks before it's back to normal as it was taking space up on tankers trying to get stations refilled with normal juice. But as I say this guy was behind the counter working the till, no disrespect to the lad

....I was told exactly the same, 2 weeks, on Wednesday but by the Shell station Manageress. Obviously Shell have been giving this info to all their stations.

Tesco are gonna see a rise in sales of their 99 RON as long as they can supply it.

Do all Tesco stations have the 99 option?

Not all their stations have the Momentum 99 , but u can go on the Tesco fuel website and it will tell u whether the station u want to visit has it  :happy2:
My local station has it and it's only a minute away  :booty:
It will have to do until Shell pull their finger out!!

My Clutter seems to run a whole load better on the Tesco 99 RON versus the V-Power.  Idles smoother, well as smooth as a badly packed Kitbag.

Just an observation.

The V-Power situation could last as long as May, I was informed yesterday.

I usually use V Power bacause I have a (probably irrational) phobia about using Supermarket fuel , but Ive used Momentum99 a few times and I can feel that the engine runs a little smoother and I get a little more MPG , but it doesnt feel as quick as when its on V Power , if that makes sense.
