More likely to be creaking top mounts.

I get the exact same thing sounds like it comes lower down than top mounts from sub frame or arb area but could be top mounts.

I was wondering if it could be the stretch bolts on the sub frame having stretched a little allowing some play?

I had this, turned out to be front lower arm front bush, they were worn. Creaked rather than rattled :)

toooo muuuuch technicallls....lol
do you mean that after you replaced the wishbone bushes the creaking disappeared?...

i've changed shock absorbers, top mounts and added lower engine mount insert on mine. next thing waiting to on is a full set of wishbones and bushes along with anti roll bar linkages...

Yes, on my car it was coming from the front bushes on the lower arm (not the console bush) The bush had separated but showed very little signs of free play. It left the steel sleeve with some rubber still attatched then the bit you would press into the arm itself also with some rubber attatched. Rubber moving on the rubber when dry made the creak. On a wet day it wasn't so bad.

Worth checking anyway.

Good luck

My money would also be on the lower control arm bushes. There is a TSB for this here http://homepage.mac.com/alden/gti/TSB-40-08-01.pdf.

Interesting tsb document cangli I guess that us orientated from the terminology, so it sounds like a compound issue on the rubber or plastic so I will probably just live with it as its not a wear and tear problem.
