You can still get bacterial build up anywhere, including inside closed systems.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I got my air con service (and brake fluid change) done at VW a couple of months ago for £99. Found an offer they were doing so phoned them and asked them to honour the price. I had to take a print out as proof, then I realised the offer expired in 2010  :ashamed: but got the price honoured anyway. Might be worth a shot if anyone needs air con service and brake fluid change.

Very good, but whats the problem with that?  If its in the 'air side' of the heat exchanger I can understand the problem.  But in the refrigerant circuit?  How does a re-gas help with this?

There are anti bacterial treatments for the 'air side' of the cooling system but a regas will do he-haw for killing bacteria in any part of the system that actually matter.

In any case I very much doubt that there will be any bacteria in the refrigerant side  :happy2:

over time moisture builds up in the refrigerant circuit, where there is moisture there is bacteria.

Re-gassing doesnt kill bacteria.

It's the process of vacuuming is whats important, by vacuuming the system you are drawing out as much moisture as possible so that bacterial build up is reduced & so that any working parts don't become seized.
