Halfrauds air con refill - Anyone used?
« on: April 05, 2012, 10:47:53 am »
As per link on offer at my local for £35.00,

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_201507_langId_-1_categoryId_165632

Has anyone used this or similar to good results? my air con needs a top up as its feeling a little warm when on LOW but not a complete refill (thought this could be a good solution, top up a little here and there)

Many thanks

I've used one last year and it topped our two old cars up fine. (a Volvo V50 and BMW 330ci).

Both were blowing slightly warm air so it brought them back to their best.

You get a refund on the can as well once its finished with.

I wouldn't waste your money. For an extra £10 or so, you can get the system serviced and filled with fresh gas and oil. That's what we charge anyway.

It is recommended for air con to be serviced every 24 months.

it is best not just to top up systems with products of the shelf as this is all it is, a top up.

vacuuming the system will help clean the lines of any moisture & bacteria build up.

Ask for a 45minute vacuum aswell & if possible ask for printouts.

Where does the oil fit in? Just about to ask the dealers for a quote for a full vacuum and regas. Obviously I need to make it very clear to them exactly what I'm after.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

What does bacteria have to do with it?  Surely the refrigerant circuit and its content doesn't mingle with the air being cooled
