£39K for a 320D??!!
« on: April 06, 2012, 06:18:39 pm »

Just been reading this week's Autocar, and I couldn't believe that the new 320D they are running cost £39K once the options list had been ticked.

I couldn't help but think this makes the £42K specced up Golf R discussed last week look an absolute bargain!

Fun Golf: 2016 mk7 R DSG 3 door. Work Golf: 2015 mk7 1.4 TSI GT ACT 5 door.
Gone but not forgotten : mk2 Golf GTI 16v, mk4 Golf V6 4Motion, mk5 GTI Storm Developments Stage 1, mk5 GTI Revo Stage 1, BMW 330ci, Skoda Octavia VRS Revo Stage 2, BMW Z4 Sdrive35i.

The market is different to 10 years ago, people who bought m3s now buy diesels because of  company car tax and spec them to sin, how many good lookin bm and audi's do you see that have four pot diesel motors in them? Loads

A press demo for a mag will have every possible option known to man, nobody in their right mind specs a car like that, or more to the point pays list price.

Given it's VW rival is a Passat, lets see how much we can spend on a 170bhp diesel version??? I know which I'd rather have.........

Sideways yo!

I'm sure the 120d that was at shows with every BMW performance item came in at over 50k, saying that BMW performance doesn't count because it's just

Not cheaper, but better value in my opinion! I know what I'd rather spend 5 years driving!

Swings and roundabouts though. The BMW over 5 years will cost you next to nothing to run, it will be more practical and comfortable, and it will still be worth something when you come to sell it. They're two totally different cars doing totally different things.

Unlike the £4K BMW M5 2000 model on wheeler dealers last night, from 50K to 4K in 11.5 years  :signLOL:

I am pretty sure 3yr depreciation on BMW's and VW Golfs runs at around the 50% mark (give or take 1-3% each way)
