Price suggestions please
« on: April 09, 2012, 07:10:12 pm »
Evening folks,

Interested in opinions on price I should be aiming to achieve for my car. Planning on selling up as we're moving closer to a train line so won't be needed. PistonHeads and AutoTrader seem to have some variations, so thought I'd see what you wizards thought.

- 2007 GTI, 5 dr manual
- Reflex silver
- Usual spec + sunroof, highline display, multi-function wheel
- 34K miles
- 2 owners
- Interior mint, exterior has a couple of stone chips and some parking "kerbing" to the 17" wheels
- Will have new MOT and have FVWSH

Thanks for any help you can offer. Will be a sad day but can't really justify it sitting on the drive.

Come on now guys.

Resale values of the mk5 have taken a large drop over the last 18 months, but there are still a lot of dreamers out there.

Last week I saw an black 05 gti with leather seats and 42,000 miles go for £6400.

I would say 8k, maybe 8.5 if you get lucky and find someone looking for your combo of mfsw, sunroof and highline, which are the rarer options.

Unfortunately I have to agree with this, standard Gti's have taken a huge knock on price and for10-11k you can pick up an Edition 30 these days.

Very true, you can pick up an ED30 for under 10K these days, seen them on auto trader for £9K, GTI, probably £1000 less, £8K I reckon if you want to sell.

Thanks guys. You can see why I asked - lots of opinion on this!

No way I plan on selling privately at £8K. Have been offered £8.5-£8.8k by garages and even webuyanycar.com, :-)

For private sale, I'd want more.

Thanks all.
Some slightly rubbish photos have now been taken, will place the ad shortly.

Clearly opinion differs on value - no great surprise I suppose.

We all know what its worth  :signLOL:

Bottom line is "It's worth what someone's prepared to pay for it!"
