Pics of 8.5 inch wheel with 225's?
« on: April 11, 2012, 01:17:41 am »
I have 8.5 inch rims with 235's on atm and lowered with eibachs and done he fender mod but I get rubbing issues now and then with full weigh or hard cornering, So basically i think i need to use 225's but how would that look? Would that be stretched and effect handling too?

225 40 18 is a perfect amount of subtle stretch on an 8.5J wheel. I run these on my mk4 golf (BBS CH002's), will try and dig out some photos. If in doubt look up www.tyrestretch.com

235 on a 8.5 :surprised: you need a 215 for a nice stretch

A few I've found on the interweb:

both 225/35/19's. I would say, though, tyre width varies a lot depending on manufacturer. A lot of people looking for a lot of easy stretch go for Falken's due to their fairly soft sidewalls. I had 225/40/18 Toyo T1-R's on 7.5J wheels, transferred them to 8J wheels and have got a wee bit stretch now. I've had BBS reps before with 225 wide tyres and no stetch tho.

I had 225's on 8.5" wheels and I can't say there was much stretch at all really

I don't know if these will help? I haven't really have any pics that really show the sidewalls  :ashamed:

I have 215 40 18 on my 8.5 look awesome but the noise is terrible from falken fk452's. Well I think it's the tyres low speed cornering is awfull for bearing noises.

Handling isn't good either I was looking to go upto a 225 but it's a lot of money on the off chance it is the tyres causing noises and not spec or weight of wheel

Here are my new 19x8.5 MTM's with 225's and there's not much stretch at all, which I'm happy with. The car handles really well  :happy2:
