To colour code or not
« on: April 12, 2012, 05:04:57 pm »
Hey Guy's n Gal's

I need some help on deciding, to colour code or not, it's a reflex silver GTI.
Do i stay with the original GTI look or colour code.

Someone did make a comment 1 day sayin: it's good to see an original GTI

I cant make my mind up!  :jumping:

Either way i think they both look great, i would appreciate any suggestions to help me decide.

Thanks

Colour code 100% , I wanted to on my GTI but didn't get around to doing it , Leave the diffuser part in the rear bumper black was my plan . I have a ED30 now and it looks the dogs painted compared to stock GTIs

Well colour coding looks good but I personally think the contrast of the black rear bumper and the skirts look Great  :happy2:

When the car is lowered the black bumper looks sweet! especially on a Reflex Silver or Candy White GTI

Yes i have to agree, when you see the pictures that were added.
The car being lower than a snakes dangleys does help, i would have to upgrade to a set of coiles!
 :driver:
The stance then it is hard to beat & its stayin original

but then the colour coded reflex silver is real nice too, if anybody had any before & after pics to compare...

I like the old school look, almost wish I hadn't painted mine.  Then I see my car and think

how much did you paint for your colour coding?

Im quite tempted to do my rear and skirts black and eventually get a vortex splitter (or the seat splitter from the fr) and have that painted white with calipers to match but then I can't think whether it would look good or not.. decisions decisions  :sad1:

It was around £700 for the front bumper, shirts and rear bumper. He fitted everything and lined it all up (my xparts front bumper needed a little playing around with to get it perfect).  Also they smoothed them all too as I didn't want the texture finish.  This included a few parts to fit the skirts as well.

Don't forget I had to get the whole front bumper done.  It was £75 to get my spoiler painted and fitted.

He is not the cheapest for paintwork but he is the best and I have used him for 15+ years.  He's in Penge too!!

I went for the best of bot hworlds on mine, did have the full colour coding, but now have the rear black and the skirts icolour coded, thoug ham tempted to do the rear bumper again around the diffuser.  A few pics from my build thread, much more if you want any.

leave it in original state to make it stand out from ed30! it will be classic in some time and by painting you will ruin it!
