Glovebox Door

Can anybody supply me with a part number pls as mine is scratched and im thinking of replacing.

Is this an easy swap, any ideas if i can use the existing lock?

Ive got the USA ETKa part numbers, so they could be different. Especially as I presume the glovebox door will be handed 

Anyway depending on colour they all end in different letters.

1K1 857 101 H
1K1 857 101 71N

In respect of swaping them over, yes it is relatively straight froward.  I've just changed the surround on mine to delete the factory phone prep cradle.  Just be methodical as there are a few electrical connections (internal light and footwell light) and the aircon connection (rubber pipe to cool the glovebox) along with the damped mechanism for opening the glovebox.  The one fixing to watch for is the one above the ashtray space in the centre console - you need to prise out the trim underneath the centre of the dash to reveal the final screw.  You will be fine though - good luck!

I swapped my glovebox yesterday due to previous damage, key still works fine.
Will check the part number later for you.

These do look like left-handed part numbers. UK (or RHD) parts will start with 1K0. I presume the suffix of the part number is still the same?

For RHD ETKA shows 1K2857101G (71N Anthracite) - usually 1K1 is LHD, 1K2 is RHD.

Just checked the one I took off yesterday, it's got 1K2857104 on the rear of the door itself

In addition to my earlier post; you will have to remove the whole glovebox assembly, but as I say, its all relatively straight forward with minimal tools required (torx screwdriver/bits and a trim tool to prise off the centre console cover).

Picked up my new glovebox door from vw but the handle is plsatic. Is it possible to swap my existing brushed handle?

Ah, just remembered, 1K0 is for universal, neither LHD or RHD cars, i.e. alloys wheels, spoilers, etc. 1K2 must be RHD  

I'd also like to know if I can remove (and possibly buy a replacement) glovebox handle. Mine's is only plastic but the chrome coating has started to chip off and has cut my other half's hand as it's quite sharp.

Where the catches are on the sides of the glove box there is a cover over the one nearest the lock handle and under this is an hole which if you look in there is a T20 torx, take this out and the lock will pull away.
