Brakes
« on: April 13, 2012, 10:38:34 pm »
I have a 2004 GT TDI, please can you advise me..................

1. Whats the standard disc size?

2. GTI setup < are these the same calipers, just a bigger discs?

3. R32 < This would require new calipers, discs and custom brackets for the calipers?

Many thanks

I do need to do discs and pads all round.

Is a GTI setup easy enough to do? if they are the 312 will I need the calipers as well? and is it just a simple swap over?

GTI set up is just the GTI carriers and new discs, you can use your old calipers save having to bleed the brakes  :happy2:

Spot on........

So the only difference between the GT and GTI are the disc size.

Carrier < This is just the bracket (with two large bolts) that hold the caliper to the hub/frame basically? and by changing this it will hold the calipers out and a further distance for the gti discs?

and GTI are 312mm?

From what I know standard GT170 brakes are the same as GTI (312mm fronts), so it's another option when searching for used ones.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

GT TDI 140 = 28mm / GT TDI, GTI, = 312mm

All you need is the carrier and discs to convert to 312's  :happy2:

Currently in the process of completing this mod.
