The BBC News feature states:
"At the time they were unused, still in crates, and yet to be assembled"
That means they could be built! Imagine Hedge's joy if an unused Vulcan was found in crates!!

With only approx' 35 Spitfires still flying to find 20 Spit's that could
possibly
be built/rebuilt and flown is incredible. That Merlin
. On a personal note, the Spitfire is the reason my Dad says he joined the RAF to become a pilot.
