is this normal after remap
« on: April 13, 2012, 10:12:34 am »
Hi peeps

Got a good deal on bluefin stage 1 map
Which I put on yesterday but I have notice I can hear the turbo
Just as you accelerate a little bit from stand still. Just wondering if it was normal as you can hear it more when setting off from a cold start.

What noise is it?

I have the whine when at low speeds from removing my cat and I have the whistle when you give it the beans.

But if you have the siren noise and your car has done a few miles then your turbo might be on it's way out.  Mine actually went pop while on the rollers before they mapped it!

I haven't noticed a difference on my car after going stage 1 but unless you have an alarming light on the dash I wouldn't worry too much..... You can hear the turbo and the woosh sound on standard gti....

Unless you go for after market intake it shouldn't really be noisier. Perhaps now you more step on it or pay attention.

And I wouldn't recommend steping on it when engine cold. It will dramatically shorten life of your car!

It's like whining noise spoke to bluefin said it was normal. I've now removed the map and its still there, it's p!$$!ng me off.

I have a dbilas intake don't know if that makes a difference.

The cars pulling ok but notice at some points the car feels worse than standard
Called bluefin again and told me cars got wrong map should be dsg and not manual. Even though I told them in my details.

I have many cars remapped before but turbo diesel, its a similar noise but not as full on just low high pitched.

HOw many guys are they going to do this to before they finally learn!!!!!!  Must admit i dont think i ever heard any more noise from the turbo with my bluefin or other maps, and lets be fair Bluefin ask less of  the turbo than most of the other tuners

Little update spoke to many people and shown it to someone from awesome gti

As soon as he sat in my car and I drove off told me its your turbo could last a day or a year. :fighting: he called it the "turbo owl"

Spoken to a turbo specialist and told me that the remap must be on to much of a high boost and contact bluefin and get them to check this.

Spoken to a local mechanic and told me to bring it in and get the pipes checked for any boost leak. Fingers crossed its this

tbh one thing bluefin dont do is hike up the boost on their remaps as high as other tuners.  NOrmally they are lower than all the other maps, however

dont they offer a warranty with their maps?
