Mk5 GT TDI 140
« on: April 16, 2012, 10:52:27 pm »
Well heres the GT TDI...to me she's Gina T

The spec isn't great, and i'm not even sure it had any of the packs etc  :sad1: However this did put her in my 'affordable' bracket, she's just ticked over to 70k and everything still feels pretty good.

Going to get a load of poor boys stuff soon, but for the mean time used up some old VW Car Balm i had knocking around. Barely had use of my shoulders afterwards but i thought the finish was actually pretty good...

Anyways, from having a nosey on the forum for the past few weeks i have a wish list:

B12 30/30 kit and pretty much a full suspension overhaul
17" BBS CH (standard silver)
Timing belt and water pump
Brakes (torn between NQSBBK and just uprating the fronts to GTi spec??)
Colour coded GTi bodykit
MFSW
R32 rear lights
Exhaust (turbo back)
R-Tech remap
Some form of I.C.E (torn between a bells and whistles OEM DD or maybe saving a few pennies and getting a SD with good bluetooth)

Had a few modified cars over the years, some i've done myself, others i've bought, some i'm still struggling to part with. This is my first proper car though and hopefully i'm going to do everything right and for the right reasons. I'm always up for hearing someone else's view on what i've got planned, i have little/no mechanical knowledge and therefore i expect to make many a mistake  :signLOL:

These arrived in the post earlier this week :)

Which in turn lead to this...

Not forgetting what i had to do to the locking wheel bolts because i stupidly forget to check for the nut when i bought the car  :stupid:

Here's a few more...i cant believe the difference in the piston rod and coil thickness!!

Needless to say the difference in ride in unbelievable! Those beastly dampers just eat the bumps in the road, bodyroll is massively decreased and there is also the bonus of a minor 'stance' improvement as well

As far as i'm aware the closest thing to legal pressed plates.

Think im going to wait till next week before i get the shots up tbh, really want to give it chance to settle. Took some measurements earlier and there was ~15mm difference between some of the figures!! Want her to look as good as she can :happy2:

I've got the same car, and plan to modify in much the same way.  How are you finding the ride on the new setup? Living out in the stix I need something with a bit of travel.

It really is unbelievable mate...to be fair mine had done 70k and had very little suspension part replacement...anything was going to be an improvement.

I couldn't say how it would compare with going lower but i am really happy with 30mm...i use my car for lots of different things and although another few mm would be more aesthetically pleasing it really is a case of getting the best possible ride/drive as often as possible...for me anyway.

If your local to the LS29 area of Leeds i don't mind taking you out for a spin  :happy2:
