Monza Diamond refurb - Is it worth it?

Just been into Wicked Wheels in Guildford, who used to send them off to Lepsons, and the guy I spoke  to in there said they've stopped doing it, as they had so many problems with corrosion coming back so quickly, and failed lacquer leading to more corrosion. These problems tended to re-occur in months rather than years. They also offer no warranty, and the spokes are too thin to allow more than 2 refurbs and retain the structural integrity of the wheel.

It's not just kerbing that's the problem. The potholes around here make Guildford roads look like the surface of the moon.

At over a hundred a corner, I'm beggining to wonder if I should just get some new wheels without this issue, especially as refurbing with diamon finish seems to be an expensive temporary fix. And I wouldn't want these wheels with any other finish TBH.

Now I quite fancy gloss black cross-spokes with a silver rim.....

my monzas need a refurb too and this diamond finnish just seems too much money for something that not stay perfect for very long due to white worm etc. you considered just getting them done a different colour? I'm debating getting them done in black or even a smokey chrome kind of colour.

Mine have just started to white worm again a year after having them done at A1. As long as the car comes back fine then I'm going to get them done again.

Not for me Samdem. These wheels are all about the diamond finish for me. I can see them going in the loft until I sell the car.

A1 Wolverhampton refurb diamond-cut Monzas but use the thicker Aston Martin clear lacquer. Still costs around 100 squid per corner though.

Its a big bill to get every year though! £500.00! I just can't justify that. If it was a one off, or lasted 3 years say, I'd do it, but it's just gonna keep happening. And it would be nice to be able to take it somewhere local for a cheap fix if you did get forced into the kerb my a lady who can't see over the steering wheel of her Volvo XC90!

yeah thats fair enough, I'm still up in the air with what i want to do really.. i can't afford to fork out for new wheels so I'm going to have to do something

But even A1 refurbs are lasting about a year though Robin. How much would the smoked chrome be per corner, if you don't mind me asking?

....Only a year!!? That's NOT good!

IIRC mine cost me £400 for the 4. They're powdercoated.

Ive just sent mine off today to be powered coat black and then diamond cut face. Costing me £360 with postage etc

They get cleaned once a week and i will keep an eye on the laquer, hopefully they will last more than a year as i have winter tyres too.

Its the diamond cut monza that make the GTI in my opinion but saying that the shiny silver passat alloys on my car now look quite good
