If it's just the coming home function, and you've got the highline display, then it's an easy fix through the convenience menu.

If lights don't come on when it gets dark (or in a tunnel etc), then it's possibly the sensor behind the interior mirror.  Have you by any chance just had a new windscreen?  There's a thread on here somewhere where the replacement caused problems with autolights.

IIRC, there's a light sensor inside the car as well.

Failing that, then I'm sorry I haven't a clue.

Many thanks for your reply but unfortunately I don't have highline display. I havent had a new screen either.

I'll investigate further.

A way to test the sensor is place a folded cloth over the sensor on the windscreen and then turn the ignition on. The lights should come on. When you then remove the cloth they should go out after a few seconds.  :happy2:

Do you have any problems with the lights in the car as well or just the exterior ones?? Possible cause is faulty central electrics module. Seen about 3-4 with problems relating to the dimming function in the CECM??

Well the good news is my lights are working as they should  :jumping:

The bad news is that I must fess up to being an idiot, it must have been to bright yesterday but I was sure they had worked in brighter conditions than that before. I put a cloth over the sensor and hey presto!

Thanks to all who took the time to reply, have a virtual drink on me  :drinking:

Glad it's sorted mate. :happy2:

I always tell people to use the cloth method first as it rules out anyone making a mistake about when it operates.
