K&N (or other)replacement air filter Vs STOCK

Ok, this is an old question, and I have read read a lot of different opinions on the matter. But i want to hear it from MK5 Owners: Does the K&N replacement filter perform better than the sock? Is there any beneffits for this engine in particular?

There are little perceived differences from the driver's seat.

Between mine (was standard except K&N panel) and Nodz's (totally standard) there was about 7bhp. Both cars were on V Power 

This was on the same day, one after the other.

Technically that proves nothing as you need to dyno the same car with the oem then k&n filter fitted.

Very true but mine did feel a bit quicker. I guess that could be around 7bhp. R-Tech noted the ability to flow more air with the K&N panel so it proves there is a better flow. Also I get more intake noise with the K&N

Which ever way you look at it, £30 for an air filter and it will give you some gains. Nuff said

Had a new stock one, replaced it for a new K&N filter. Cant say I've noticed much difference in intake noise or performance.
