Factory is about 30%.

25-20% is the closest you'll get with aftermarket tinting film usually.

Yeah the % referes to the ammount of light that is let through the tint.

Higher the % = Lighter the tint.

I'm also not actually tinting any more, I have a real person job for once  I fell out out love with the trade

You thought about the privacy shades as they stay on place and allow you to drop the rear windows but still protect you important passengers  :happy2:

I went for 30%, just right for me, i have the beige leather as well, if you have black interior it will look darker. Main thing it blocks the UV for the kids at the back, whereas i was told the factory rear darker tints they did on the newer Gti's don't.

Not sure what % my tint was, but it was Dark Smoke - which I think it pretty standard terminology. Dark enough for privacy and blocks the majority of the suns rays for the wee man in the back. Think the next darkest is limo which is apparently a nightmare to see out of in the dark when reversing etc!

Not the best pics but give you an idea.

THe shades also look like tints from 10ft away and you cant tell the difference until up close.

Probably a ruddy obvious comment to make, but inside the car stays a lot cooler when UV tints are on... a useful bonus on blazing hot days I find..

BTW What's a blazing hot day again??
