Pioneer AVH-2400BT

Hi Folks,

I am picking up my new Stereo, a Pioneer AVH-2400BT on Saturday. I also have a double din fitting kit to pick up tomorrow.

After lots of research it appears I will have to get a switched live feed to the unit as there is not one going to the RCD300.

Is there a more professional way other than plugging the feed into the front of the fuse box via a spade connector. I don't want to have to remove the fuse box and create a new fuse.

Also if I have to use the crude method I would have thought an in line fuse would be sensible?

I just fitted an avh-8400bt unit and you don't have to dismantle anything for the live feed. Just plugged into a spare slot in the fusebox on the right hand side of the dash and then fed it to the headunit loom. Was very very easy to do so wouldn't worry.

It is more than secure enough to do it that way and is hidden so doesn't look unprofessional

Oh and regarding an in line fuse, there will be one on the back of the headunit anyway. In line fuses I suppose are only used when powering an amplifier that draws more current.

Thanks for that. My idea of an in line fuse was to protect against an issue between the head unit and the fuse box. If there was a short on the wire between the head unit and the fuse box it would blow the fuse potecting the fuse box itself. I would rather put one in so it would only blow the in line fuse.

Have picked up fitting kit, a couple of questions!

1. I got a facia adaptor without cage, will the cage that comes with the head unit be ok?
2. The red wire goes from one connector to the other the same as all of the other wires so I gues I will need to cut the red wire and connect some extra wire to run to the fuse box?

It will be fine mate using the cage from the headunit

No need to cut the wire as you can just disconnect it from the bullet connector that's already in the loom. Easy peasy.

Almost there I think! Just one last question:

There are bullets connectors on the blue wires on the loom that came with the head unit. It says only connect them if required. There is also an extra wire that comes off the blue wires and I think I need to connect the antenna adaptor blue wire to this for the amplified signal from the antenna in the car. Is this correct?

The blue wire is for a 12v remote signal when connecting an audio amplifier not for antenna

Ok I will leave the connector open on the blue wire on the arial adaptor but I'm not exactly sure what it's for!
