I've finally ordered some coilovers for my mk5.... went for the Jamex kit so fingers crossed it works out ok.
I've been told to change the top mounts while I'm at it but unsure which part I need?
2 FT STRUT TOP MOUNTS GOLF MK5 POLO 9N2 9N CADDY SEAT AUDI SKODA
£17.57
OR
2 AXIAL GROOVED STRUT TOP BEARINGs GOLF MK5 POLO 9N2 9N CADDY ++
£18.66
Anyone know?
Thanks.

The groove bearings
go into
the top strut mount rubbers
Would advise to get OEM ones from VW too as copy parts of this type are often poor quality and wont last.

Thanks Alex, I'll go to VW then.
Should i replace both parts then? As far as I'm aware neither has failed, I just thought it'd be a good opportunity to take the precaution.

If you are doing the top mounts, its generally good practice to do the groove bearings too

Got my coilovers put on 3months ago, recently developed a knocking sound on full lock... found out its due to the top mount bearings that have perished..
Any diea how much VW would charge for them?

Id check your sub frame bolts are tight 1st before shelling out for those..
Known issue on the mk5
or Could be a steering rack issue perhaps?

Is there any point in doing the rubber mounts when fitting new springs? Normally springs are just swapped without changing any parts, but I thought it would be good practice to fit new bearings and it may stop the creaking I have when turning slowly on full lock
