Help please, rcd300 to rcd310
« on: April 22, 2012, 11:19:05 am »
I am looking at buying a rcd310 to replace my rcd300 in my mk5 golf 2006 model,

The ones I am looking at buying are 2008 and later and have read about the battery drain issue and such. Just wondering if anyone can help me and point me in the right direction and to whether this will be a problem and how i can overcome this please?

Thanks for any help

It isn't the age of the radio that is the issue, it is your CAN Gateway module in the car.
If you can scan it with VCDS to provide the part number then that's the easiest way to tell.

I think if you have a 2006 car then you'll have the battery drain problem.

If you want a new module then there's a few on here that can replace/code it for you, Eddie-NL is the man to speak to about providing one should you need it.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Cheers skard, what do I need to do then? Have something coded in for it to work? Or have a new plug in or something?

How much is it looking for me to get that done?

Thanks

If necessary, you have to simply replace the module. The module would then need coded (add your existing settings etc).
The updated module allows your stereo to shut down with the key out the ignition, the older modules don't allow this hence the battery drain when left for a few days or so.
