Hi Guys,

I see a lot of people on here running major power n mods a plenty but not much on getting the power down.

Im running stage 2 Revo with full turbo back and up until a week ago i had vreds which were pants to be fair so iv gone for Dunlop Sport Maxxs as i had them on my Anni n were fine. However im finding these equally crap at getting the power down.

Does anybody know of any mods that could combat this other than a diff as the pennies wont stretch at the mo.

Ohhhh and im on FK coileys.

If you are running a K03 GTI rather than a K04 Ed30, you have a very similar spec to me: Revo Stage 2, Milltek TBE, Goodyear Asymmetric F1's on rear axle and Dunlop Sport Maxx on front until replaced by the GY F1's.

But the mods which result in me rarely getting wheelspin are:

- How I use my right foot (always progressively).

- Fast-road engine mounts, especially the lower mount, which greatly reduce engine movement.

- Anti Lift Kit, aka WALK (check john_o's excellent review).

- Quaife diff.

- KW V3 coilovers.

- ARB's.

^ The list is not in order of importance or effectiveness.

I'm plotting nearly 270 bhp on JKM's Dyno-Dynamics rollers - It's not mega power but my car is very well balanced indeed.

did you used to have more power RR? i thought you had a 400bhp BT for some reason

....Perhaps I sometimes drive as if I had a 400 bhp BT!! But no, never had that kind of power on my GTI.

I found the same with Bridgestone Potenza's = hellish road noise on half tread  :fighting:

I'm not questioning the ratings of Dunlop / Goodyear (never had Dunlops), but it's odd that the same company can produce "high performance" tyres that are rated so differently.

Red if you were to rate your handling mods what would you give each one. 10 being the highest, 1 lowest. In both absolute peformance and smiles per £ ie the V3s 10/7, 10 'cos their suberb, 7 'cos they cost a bit. Interested as all I'm trying to improve right now is the handling. ta

....That's a difficult question to answer because they all work best together as a whole.

- Anti Roll Bars deliver the most smiles for the least amount of money.

- Coilovers, whether KW or Bilstein, better handle the forces which the suspension is subjected to when driven enthusiastically.

- The Quaife is probably the most desirable. VW now include an 'electronic' diff and thereby acknowledge the need for one.

- Engine mounts make all the difference to transferring the power.

^ That's the order in which I modded but nothing was pre-planned.
